Lenz Decoder Harnesses
LY012-5 Decoder Harness with NMRA plug
- Designed for all decoders that support the 8 pin industry standard decoder socket.
- Each Harness contains an NMRA medium 8 pin plug
- Install one decoder harness in each locomotive.
- Allows you to share a decoder between multiple locomotives.
- Package includes harnesses for 5 locomotives.
Wiring Color Code
There are 8 wires on the plug.
Two pins connect to the track pickups:
· Red wire to right rail pickup (Pin #8).
· Black wire to the left rail pickup (Pin #4).
Two pins connect to the motor terminals:
· Orange wire to the motor terminal that was previously connected to the right rail (Pin #1).
· Gray wire to the motor terminal that was previously connected to the left rail (Pin #5).
Three pins are for the headlights:
· White wire to the forward headlight (Pin #6).
· Yellow wire to the rear headlight (Pin #2).
· blue wire to the headlight positive common (Pin #7).
Once installed in the locomotive the DH Decoder Harness can be plugged into any 8 pin equipped decoder.
Place the locomotive (without the body) on the programming track and read back the locomotive address from the decoder. If the decoder is properly installed, you will be able to read back the factory pre-set address 03. Remove the locomotive from the track, and if necessary correct any wiring errors.

- Install one decoder harness in each locomotive.
- Allows you to share a decoder between multiple locomotives.
- Package includes harnesses for 5 locomotives.
Wiring Color Code
There are 9 wires on the plug.
Two pins connect to the track pickups:
· Red wire to right rail pickup (Pin #8).
· Black wire to the left rail pickup (Pin #2).
Two pins connect to the motor terminals:
· Orange wire to the motor terminal that was previously connected to the right rail (Pin #7).
· Gray wire to the motor terminal that was previously connected to the left rail (Pin #3).
Three pins are for the headlights:

Two pins are for the extra inputs:
· Green wire to auxiliary function 1 (Pin #9).
· Violet or Brown wire to auxiliary function 2 (Pin #1).
